observation love song

i must sometimes practice these things
so when cutting roots and removing
buds berries and fiddleheads i can
feel quietly myself of them
while dirty my hands:

when the taste of seasons is correct
i must correct my mouth if i don’t kiss you in
noticing the marigold glow of moments—
such every sunset, such leaves on streets.
perhaps you’re not the total of the earth
but earth is everywhere showing me you.
forgive if one day i sat alone by the harbor
and didn’t rise in my own way singing
for all the bright waves being you,
or if in a spider’s intuitive mind there aren’t
fewer so vigorous or such subtle lines than
your body both in and out of showers has shown mine.
forgive, if you want, whatever i’ve done
to forget to see that when any thing
wakes up from its early deep sleep it
becomes, beautiful, its life of you.
